The company's founder, Karl Fazer, who learned his trade abroad, traveled extensively and brought influences from the "great world" of chocolate flavors to the Grand Duchy of Finland. True to its name, Wienernougat has its roots in Austria, from where Karl Fazer brought the recipe from his trip to Vienna in 1904. The production of the confectionery began in 1910 and it is still made every Christmas to the delight of the Finns.
